Schneider Electric Expands Operations In Tanzania
Schneider Electric a leader in digital transformation and energy management has reinforced its commitment to its vision and influence in the Tanzanian Energy ecosystem. With the recent establishment of the fully-fledged team and office in Dar-es-Salaam, along with a state-of-the-art fabrication yard capable of assembling containerized substation solutions, the company is set to serve the region’s growing infrastructure and energy needs.
With this expansion, Schneider Electric works with its partners in the region to develop containerized substations, also known as box-type substations. These prefabricated units integrate the low-voltage PRISMA distribution switchboard, solar chargers, inverters, and other key components into one or more standard containers – making them highly recommended to serve different industries in the region.
With Tanzania’s electricity access rate at approximately 45.8%, and urban areas experiencing 71% electrification while rural communities lag at 23%, Schneider Electric is actively working to bridge this gap through innovative and sustainable energy solutions.
Speaking while visiting the newly commissioned yard, the Executive Vice President in charge of International Operations Manish Pant noted that, “Africa stands at a pivotal moment in the global energy transition, and Schneider Electric is committed to accelerating access to clean, reliable, and affordable energy across the continent. In Tanzania, we are not just investing in technology but also in people empowering partners, upskilling them to serve the market and drive sustainable impact.”

In alignment with Schneider Electric’s business model, we establish and grow local partners with the right technical capabilities to fulfill market demands. “We ensure that our partners are well-skilled and equipped to provide solutions that meet international standards.” Said the Region’s General Manager for Business Projects & Services in Tanzania, Josiah Habwe. “This collaboration accelerates the adoption of sustainable energy solutions and supports our commitment to providing tailored, high-quality solutions that support the country’s infrastructure and industrial growth.”
With the right technologies and partner capabilities, Schneider Electric has the capacity to play a crucial role in addressing the energy challenges in Tanzania.
The region’s central office is located along 368 Msasani Road – Oyster Bay in Dar-es-Salaam.
