OPPO Reno8 T Full Review: A New Challenge To Midrangers
Phone manufacturer Guangdong Oppo Mobile Telecommunications has worked on and released various midrangers over the years. On of its famous brands has been the variations of the OPPO Reno devices that have been changing and growing over the years.
We received the latest model of this brand, which is the OPPO Reno8 T (5G), and here are my honest thoughts about this device. In my opinion, the OPPO Reno8 T is a supped-up version of the formerly released OPPO Reno 8.
Without further ado, let’s dissect this device:
In the box
Once you have purchased the OPPO Reno8 T, this is what you will find in the box.
- a transparent TPU case
- a pre-applied screen protector
- an 67W fast charger
- a type-A to Type-c cable
- sim ejector tool
Design
The review unit comes in a Dawn Gold colour but you can also get the phone in a Midnight Black shade. It is slim, lightweight, measuring 7.7mm and weighing 171g. The device has a 6.7” slightly curved AMOLED Screen with a refresh rate of 120Hz Refresh Rate.
This phone’s biometrics is handled by an in-display fingerprint reader and face unlock. At the bottom of the device, there’s a sim-card slot, stereo speakers, and a type-C charger port. Just like many mid rangers released in the recent past, this phone does not come with an earphone port. The only headset you can use with this phone is a Bluetooth headset.
Its selfie camera is a hole punch at the cetre front while the back has a triple camera setup and an LED flashlight. Our device has a dawn gold finish on the cover.
Generally, the phone feels comfortable in your hands, easy to use and can also fit perfectly in your pocket.
Display
The OPPO Reno8 T has a similar screen experience with the Reno 8. It has an AMOLED screen of 1080p with a 120Hz refresh rate.
The exact resolution of the OLED panel is 1080 x 2412 or 394 ppi density. Asahi Glass AGC DT-Star2 handles the screen protection.
Performance
This device has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 695 5G (6nm) processor paired with Adreno 619 GPU. It is also run by an Android 13 and ColorOS 13 and comes with 8GB of RAM and a 256GB UFS 2.2 Storage. There’s an option to expand your RAM with up to 8GB Virtual RAM.
All these features make the performance of the Reno8 T smooth. You can efficiently multi-task with the phone and it is also seamless when switching between apps. In my experience with the phone I haven’t had a seamless experience when navigating through the phone.
I have also experienced no lag with the phone when gaming.
Camera
If there’s one thing that OPPO phones have been famous for is their cameras. It is no different for the Reno8 T device, which has the best portrait camera yet, among other android midrangers. This phone has a triple camera setup on the rear with a 108MP main, 2MP depth, and another 2MP macro. The system tops out video recording at 1080p@30fps.
The phone also boasts a 32MP selfie camera that also caps video recording at 1080p 30fps.
On this phone, you get a great performance in photography and videography with good lighting. In a case of a low-light scenario, I experienced fairly good image processing. Shots and videos come out with pretty good contrast, sharpness, and colour with impressive dynamic range.
What stood out for me with this phone is the portrait camera. The quality is unmatched. Here are a few sample shots:
Battery and Charging
The OPPO Reno8 T packs a 4800mAh battery, which made me wonder how they managed to make the device so light. It charges up using a 67W fast charge that I have tested and found that it charges from 0% to 100% in just 45 minutes, without any interruptions.
The battery performance depends on you usage. With my average usage I got upto 10 hours of use before I recharge again in the evening. When using this phone, I never had to charge it during the day as once it is full in the morning, I had all the charge I needed for the day.
OPPO included 5-layer charging protection and Battery Health Engine to ensure long battery life and safe fast charging.
