Mastercard and Awash Bank partner to launch new international prepaid card and Payment Gateway Service

Awash Bank S.C, the top private financial institution in Ethiopia, has teamed up with Mastercard, a global payments technology company, to introduce the awesome Awash pre-paid cards. They unveiled these Mastercard-branded international prepaid plastic cards at a press conference held at Awash Bank’s Headquarters. This partnership is a big deal for Ethiopia’s card business because these cards allow customers and merchants to make and receive online payments from anywhere in the world.

These plastic cards offer customers added flexibility and convenience. They can be used for both contact and contactless transactions at ATMs and POS machines. Customers can withdraw cash from ATMs, pay at POS terminals, and shop online at any merchant that accepts Mastercard. And get this, they can even make online purchases at any merchant website worldwide where Mastercard is accepted using a virtual card.

One of the coolest features of the Awash Mastercard is that customers can load funds onto the card as needed at Forex bureaus. This makes it super handy for international payments and travel expenses.
