Showmax surprise take on headlines by appointing Emma Gichoge as the first ever General Manager in East Africa. Gichonge holds an IT management masters degree (Master of a science) and IT information technology bachelor degree (Bachelors of science).
With its customers across 44 African markets now moving onto a powerful new streaming platform, Showmax is pleased to announce the appointment of talented Kenyan tech and product executive Emma Gichonge as its first-ever General Manager: Prepare for East African operations.

A charismatic leader, Emma’s reputation for efficiency and performance improvement was sharpened in the banking industry and across countries. Such duties include work as a start-up tech company co-founder and the mobile money solution delivery for the entire Africa and Asia was implemented under her supervision at Yutap. According to that, she spearheaded the transformation of the old MPESA mobile money platform at Safaricom and was the first to set up a successful Enterprise Project Management Office within the organisation. Most recently, she occupied the position of the Managing Director at MultiChoice Malawi, this made her win quite a lot of commercial initiatives in the country.
Speaking about her new job, Gichonge says, “Showmax is a daring business, which grew while on Peacock platform to become a global show. Implementing new plans and showing people affordable plans is what I see as my job that is worth working on. Amid my passion for innovation, I am looking forward to working with Kenya Showmax team to propel this business forward. We are a step ahead with these individuals and Mpesa partners; we are already working together to ensure that IPIN e-wallet works with the new technology we have. The customers will still be able to pay using the M-PESA USSD (*375#) but the full options are anticipated to launch soon.
